Letters from the Governor's office citing my work
All of my Clients and Colleagues are special and greatly valued, here are a few photos
A NASA Connection with a life-long impact: Early in my career as an aircraft maintenance technician, I had the
opportunity to service the aircraft of several astronauts such as marshaling the aircraft, fueling the aircraft, and
checking the fluids, etc. Each astronaut was assigned a Northrop T-38 Talon to commute to various assignments,
and Robins AFB-ALC was a pit stop on the way from Houston to Cape Canaveral. When the astronauts would
land at Robins on my watch, besides marshaling them in and checking the aircraft, I would sometimes drive
them around the base when they had business at other locations. I became friends with some of these astronauts
who were a great encouragement to me. I especially remember driving Ellison Onizuka to the base barber shop
and spending some time with him. One afternoon after I chocked the wheels on his aircraft, Story Musgrave told
me of how he started his career as an aircraft technician and how in later years that background helped
him as a medical doctor because of the troubleshooting and problem-solving skills he learned as an aircraft
mechanic. Little did Story know that I would carry his message throughout my journey from aircraft technician to PhD.
These special people offered kind words and encouragement to all who worked with them and to me
at a time when I needed it. My experience has taught me to encourage others, and where I can, to help them find
their niche and a belief in their ability to achieve their goals.
